Italian Frosted Cookie Recipe
Quick and easy this Italian frosted cookie recipe is one of the best Italian cookie recipes I know!
Wait until your family tastes these delightful morsels, they will become a constant household request. I have to hide them from my husband Dan or they will be gone within the day!
By the way, I found this cookie recipe in an old Italian cookbook that belonged to my Dad. Back in the day, Italians generally had large families. I cut this amazing recipe in half and tweaked it to make them healthier. I call these babies the cupcake of cookies!
Note: Sprinkle toasted coconut on top for nutrition and a fancier look and taste!

Frosted Cookie Recipe
Ingredients:
- ½ cup butter
- ½ cup organic cane sugar
- 2 eggs
- ¼ cup milk
- ½ tsp vanilla
- ½ tsp anise flavoring (if available)
- 2 cups organic unbleached flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup coconut (to roll cookies in)
Preparation:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large bowl, using electric mixer, cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
- Beat in eggs, milk, vanilla and anise flavoring.
- Gradually add flour, baking powder, and salt to creamed mixture and blend well.
- Drop approximately 1 rounded tsp onto lightly greased cookie sheet.
- Bake for 10-13` minutes or until lightly browned on bottom.
- Place on wire racks to cool.
Frosting Ingredients:
- 1-½ cups icing sugar
- 1-1/2 tbsp butter, softened
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2-1/2 tbsp milk
Preparation:
- Beat above ingredients together until smooth.
- Spread icing on cooled cookies.
- Dip iced top of cookies in coconut.
- Decorate for any occasion!
